setting up our camping spot

Woohoo! We got our camping spot set up! Saturday was awesome. Dan drove the motorhome, pulling a trailer with the shed he'd built on it, and I drove the truck, with the quad in the back. When we got there the first order of business was to haul all the 'stuff' out of the motorhome and clean it (my job) and put together the shed (Dan's job). Kassidy did awesome entertaining herself while we worked away. My social husband met a few of our neighbours, while his shy wife kept to herself. We saw a few other seasonal lots set up (there are 15 seasonal's there) and it gave us some ideas for how to spruce it up for the rest of the season. When we got back home we bought some solar lights. We still have to put up some tarps (to block rain), the motorhome canopy, and the canopy over the picnic table. We will be going down for the long weekend next weekend so will have some more complete pictures then.

Dan did SUCH a good job on the shed. The camoflauge he put on it makes it blend in really nicely. And all our stuff fits in it: water toys, Kassidy's toys, chairs, cookers, tools, etc, and it gets locked up so no one can steal anything when we aren't there.

The lady who guards the entrance to Hope Lake has a pet groundhog! I'd never seen one before up close and personal. It was really cute. Kassidy got to feed it a carrot. It was a mamma and from the looks of things she just had some little babies or they were soon to be born. I'll get some pictures of her next time.

Kassidy and I went for a little walk and words can't express how peaceful and wonderful it felt being there. We walked on the beautiful white groomed sand, hunted for 'sea shells', lay down on the dock looking for baby fish (which we saw lots of!), and stopped to pick dandilions. :)

The only down thing I can say about the weekend was due to human error. Before positioning a camper....make sure all the sky lights are closed. We totally wrecked one on a tree branch. DOH!

Next weekend we will be bringing a rake to clean up all the dead leaves.

Dan has plans to build Kassidy a sand box on our site (if the lady running the place is OK with it).

And yes, that is a shower you see in one of the photos! Dan rigged the motor home so that the shower runs outside as well as inside. We will be putting it off the back of the camper, on plastic pallets, and surrounded by tarps for privacy. Dan is so smart. :)

The mess, as everything is pulled out of the motor home:

And it's all cleaned up! (Well, except for a few leaves. haha)
